3How much does the Safer Drivers Course cost?
There is a fee of $140.00, including GST, per learner for both modules of the course.
4What are the minimum requirements for me to attend?
Learner drivers must hold a valid NSW learner licence, be under 25 years of age and have completed minimum of 50 hours of actual on-road driving and 10 of these hours must be night hours (of actual on road experience and not credits gained under the 3 for 1 professional instruction scheme)
5Is there an age limit?
You must be under the age of 25, hold a valid NSW Learner Licence and have completed 50 logbook hours (of actual on road experience) to be eligible for the course.
6Is the course available to learners from states other than NSW?
Unfortunately no, you must hold a valid NSW Learner Licence and be able to satisfy all eligibility criteria stated above.
7What will I get out of this course?
The Safer Drivers Course will help you better understand low-risk driving strategies such as speed management, gap selection, hazard awareness and safe following distances; ultimately preparing you for when you drive unsupervised on your Ps. You will also receive 20 hours of Logbook credit once you complete the course.
8What do I bring on the day?
Make sure that you bring your NSW Learner Licence and logbook; all other course materials will be supplied on the day. A dual-controlled vehicle is supplied for the Module 2 session.
9Can I pick if my instructor will be male or female?
No, all instructors are allocated depending on location.
10How long is the course?
The Safer Drivers Course is 5 hours in duration over two modules. Module 1 is a three-hour group discussion
session with other L platers, where you’ll learn how to manage risks on the road. Module 2 is a two-hour in-vehicle coaching session
with a Coach and another learner so you can learn a range of practical low-risk driving
11Do both Modules have to be done on the same day?
Depending on your chosen location, Module 1 and Module 2 may be available on the same day. Please check with your local PCYC regarding the timing of Module 2 sessions. You must complete both sessions within one month to be eligible for the 20 hour logbook credit.
12Can I do the course in a manual vehicle?
Depending on your chosen location and the number of other Learners on the course you may have the option of doing your Module 2 session in a manual vehicle. Please check with your local PCYC regarding the availability of manual vehicles.
13How do you know if are ready to do the course?
Once you have completed minimum of 50 hours of actual on-road driving and 10 of these hours must be night hours (of actual on road experience and not credits gained under the 3 for 1 professional instruction scheme).
14Is this an accredited RMS course?
Yes. PCYC are an Approved Provider of the Safer Drivers Course for learner drivers.
